National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
The NHTSA requires a minimum red-luminous area of 4.5 square inches for high mounted brake lights. The "open space" of most car logos exceeds the 4.5 square inches of red-luminous area mandated by the U.S. Government in 1986. If your logo does not provide the required amount of "open space" in its original design, an additional luminous area is created by encircling the logo with a small amount of brake light-red, thus conforming to NHTSA regulations.
NHTSA should welcome the addition of Logo Brake Light in support of their policies of safer driving, reducing accidents, collisions and saving lives, as well as heralding a reduction in insurance costs and personal suffering.
